The Departmental Job Program is another avenue
of student employment at FHSU. Graduate or undergraduate students
who are interested in working on-campus but do not qualify for
Federal Work-Study are eligible for a Departmental Job. (This
program is not based on financial aid.)
How do I apply for a Departmental Job?
Students interested in the Departmental Job Program
will need to contact the Student Employment Office (SEO) for
a listing of the currently available on-campus job openings.
Since positions can be posted at any time throughout the year,
students are encouraged to check frequently with the SEO for
new listings. After reviewing the list, it is your responsibility
to contact the departments of your choice that have vacancies.
You will need to go through an application/interview process
with the employer(s) at this time. You must also be enrolled
In six or more credit hours per fall/spring semesters and three
or more credit hours for the summer semester to work in the
Departmental Job Program.
I found a job! Is there anything else
I need to do?
Once you have been hired, you must return to
the Student Employment Office in Custer Hall, Third Floor, to
complete employment paperwork. For payroll purposes, the substance
abuse policy statement, W-4 form, K-4 form, and I-9 form must
be filled out as soon as possible. Federal law requires this
paperwork must be completed before you begin employment. You
will also need to bring the following personal documents to
determine employment eligibility: (1) social security card or
birth certificate; and (2) driver's license or Tiger card; or
(3) U.S. passport, when applicable. After this paperwork is
completed, you may begin your new job! Congratulations and good
luck!
How do I get paid?
After you have completed all the necessary paperwork
in the Student Employment Office (SEO), you will be set up
on the student payroll system. Effective June 15, 2008, the
student employment wage is $7.25 per hour. Paydays are every
other Friday. Starting with the summer 2006 payroll, FHSU
uses EFT (electronic fund transfer) as the payroll
distribution process. You may select to have your earnings
deposited to your Tiger Card or to the bank account of your
choice. You may complete a direct deposit form (voided check
required) at the SEO to establish your direct deposit. Your
pay advice will be mailed to your local address, so you will
want to be sure to keep this address current in Tiger
Tracks.
