On July 3, 2009, the Tuition Incentive Program
(TIP) and the Stressed Kansans Scholarship Program (SKSP) were
established by President Hammond. Both
programs are designed to offset tuition increases for the 2009-10
academic year by utilizing a portion of FHSU’s share of Economic
Stimulus funds recently released to the State of Kansas.
TIP provides a $5 per credit hour award for undergraduate,
degree seeking Kansas residents for fee purposes. These students
must be enrolled in FHSU on-campus classes and earn a grade of C
or better during the fall 2009 or spring 2010 semester. High
school students taking courses for college credit are not eligible.
Any eligible student who earns fall 2009 or spring 2010 TIP credit
and graduates from FHSU in December of 2009 or May of 2010 will
be offered a voucher that can be used to purchase a Tiger
Tag from the FHSU Alumni Association. TIP
credit earned during the fall 2009 semester may be used for
the spring 2010
semester only and TIP credit earned during the spring 2010 term
may be used for the fall 2010 term only. All TIP credit will be
automatically posted to FHSU student accounts. Credit cannot be
used for summer classes. No application for a TIP award is necessary.
The SKSP provides an award of up to six credit
hours of on-campus tuition and fees for undergraduate Kansas residents
for fee purposes ($752.40) for the fall and spring semesters of
the 2009-10 academic year. To qualify, a student must be eligible
for admission and must provide documentation of unemployment on or
after January 1, 2009, using a SKSP
Scholarship Application. Students
who received the scholarship in the Fall 2009 semester and wish to
receive the scholarship for the spring 2010 semester must reapply
for the award using the SKSP Scholarship Application and have successfully
completed ALL fall
2009 courses attempted with a grade of C or better. Unemployed
students are encouraged to apply for federal aid using the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid. Requests
for adjustments due to unemployment can be made using a Professional
Judgment Review form.
NOTE: FHSU makes final decisions regarding scholarship eligibility.
Criteria and implementation rules are subject to change.
