Homesteading in Gove County
Teller
The town of Teller, named for Willard
Teller, was located in Larrabee Township near the Smoky Hill River.
It was established in 1887. The expectation of a railroad along
the Smoky prompted the establishment of the town. Teller never
had a post office, but did have a store and a blacksmith shop,
as well as a few dwellings. In 1890, Teller became a ghost town.
The ethnicity of its settlers is unknown.
