Forsyth Library maintains the Distance Services
Program for Fort Hays State Distance Students. If you are enrolled
in courses through the FHSU Virtual College, and live outside of
Hays, you can receive distance library services to support your
studies.
Distance Services staff will act in your place when you cannot
come to campus and help you when
you are here. We can
- Meet with you at Forsyth Library by appointment.
- Direct you to library resources closer to your home or work.
- Provide brief telephone reference service related to your course
work.
- Conduct limited literature searches for your research (with
approval of your department).
- Loan Forsyth Library books to you by mail.
- Photocopy or print articles from journals, course reserve materials,
and limited pages from books.
**There may be fees attached to some of these services. Please
see "Receiving Materials" for information
on fees.
We encourage you to:
- Use your local or area library for research as much as possible.
If you find citations there for articles or books owned by Forsyth
Library, Distance Services can supply the materials. If you find
citations for books or articles that Forsyth does not own,
we can request these items for you through Interlibrary Loan.
You may be able to save time by using the Interlibrary Loan services
of your local public, community college, or college library.
**Please submit your requests in plenty of time
to complete your project or paper. We strive to fill requests within
24 hours. However, some requests may take longer if materials are
not immediately available.
