Eligibility


A person must:

  1. Want to make a difference in the life of a child in need of extra attention and/or assistance
  2. Be 60 years of age or older
  3. Willing and able to provide up to 20 hours of volunteer service per week
  4. No longer be in the regular work force
  5. Be determined by a physical examination to be capable of serving without detriment to either yourself or the children served

To Form a Partnership with FGP...

Most nonprofit child and youth orientated organizations are eligible to serve as Foster Grandparent volunteer stations.

Examples of these types of agencies would be:

  • Local public and parochial schools
  • Preschools and day care centers
  • Head Start Programs
  • Hospitals
  • Homes for unwed mothers
  • Community and religious institutions serving children with special and/or exceptional needs
