Tomanek Hall
This building was named for Dr. Gerald W. Tomanek, seventh president of Fort Hays State University. Jerry began his association with FHSU as a student, receiving a bachelor's degree in 1942 and a master's degree in 1947. After completing his doctorate at the University of Nebraska, he returned to Fort Hays to teach in the biology department. During his tenure, he rose through the ranks serving as a department chair, division chair, vice president for academic affairs, and acting president. He became president in 1976 and retired in 1987.
Tomanek Hall is home for Chemistry,
Geosciences, Physics
and our Computing and Telecommunication Center.
The Computing and Telecommunication Center includes computer labs for students enrolled at FHSU, the mainframe computer system, and the Micro Department that services all computers throughout campus. Most faculty members have computers with on-line enrollment and grade entry on their desktops.
