What is Spring Orientation?
Spring Orientation is reserved for all new freshman & transfer students who will begin attending FHSU during the spring semester. Spring Orientation will include sessions & activities designed just for new incoming students to help prepare you to succeed in the classroom & for life as a Tiger!
What Will I Do at Spring Orientation?
During Spring Orientation, you will have the opportunity to be welcomed into the Tiger family & get prepared for your first day of classes. During the half-day program, you will be able to:
- Meet fellow new Tigers.
During Spring Orientation, you’ll have the opportunity to meet & interact with other fellow new students.
- Connect with faculty, staff, & student leaders.
Throughout the program, you will meet a variety of FHSU faculty & staff members who are ready to help you succeed as a Tiger. In addition, you will have the opportunity to get to work closely with your Senior Orientation Assistant (OA), a student who has worked with the First Year Experience program for a minimum of one year. Your Senior OA will serve as an invaluable resource for you in helping transition to life at FHSU.
- Receive information regarding academic expectations & college success.
Is FHSU really different from my previous institution? What will my professors expect of me? During Spring Orientation, you will learn about adjustment to FHSU, time management, work & class balance recommendations, academic policies, & academic honesty.
- Receive information from a variety of campus resources.
Coming to college or transferring to a new institution is a transition & you will need some time to learn the lay of the land. During Spring Orientation, you will be introduced to a variety of campus resources & their available services that are here to help you succeed & thrive.
