First Year Experience (FYE)
What to Do Before Attending Tiger Freshman Pre-Enrollment

  • Make sure you register! Mail in the registration card or register online.
  • We need to know what classes you have taken elsewhere! If you have earned any college credits while in high school through dual credit, have your previous institution send an official college transcript to FHSU. They can send it to the Registrar’s Office; 600 Park Street; Hays, KS 67601-4099.
  • Have you earned AP or IB credits? If so, have official documentation sent to the Registrar’s Office; 600 Park Street; Hays, KS 67601-4099.
  • Show me the money! If you have not yet applied for Federal financial assistance, you can apply for aid online. Fort Hays State University’s FAFSA code number is 001915. If you have questions, contact the Financial Assistance Office at (785) 628-4408.
  • Find a home and a new roomie! Don’t forget to complete your Residential Life housing contract! All freshmen are required to either live at home or in the residence halls. You can complete your contract online, or call the Student Residential Life office at (785) 628-4245 for more information.
  • Think about what classes you want to take. When you are prepared, it is easier and faster to pre-enroll. Check out Fort Hays State course schedule system, TigerEnroll. You won’t be able to pre-enroll just yet, but you can begin looking at course offerings and course availability.
  • Stay healthy – or be prepared for if you’re not. Just in case you need to go to Student Health once you get on campus, it is good to have your Personal Health History form completed ahead of time so you don’t have to try to do it when you’re sick.
  • Will you be traveling to Hays or staying overnight? If so, remember to book a room at one of our local accommodations!

  • Get excited…after you register, you will receive a confirmation letter in the mail, approximately 10 days after we receive your registration. You are on the road to becoming a TIGER!
