What is New Student Orientation?New Student Orientation is a part of Tiger Impact that is required for all new students. It is designed to help you adjust to a new environment and cope with the changes you will experience in coming to FHSU. Orientation gives you a preview of the college experience, helps you understand university policies and procedures, and provides opportunities that will familiarize you with university services and other students. When you come to Orientation, you will learn how to effectively deal with common transition issues; get familiar with the FHSU campus; gain an understanding of academic support services available; and start to understand the academic expectations professors will have of you.
Orientation begins on Friday, August 17, 2012, with registration at 8:30 am. Orientation will conclude at 2:00 pm with Tiger Impact events resuming at 6:30 pm.
I am a transfer student or a non-traditional student. Do I have to attend?Transfer and Non-Traditional students will find a lot of value in Orientation. However, a special session just for Transfer and Adult Learners has been created with you in mind. Join us for a free lunch, an opportunity to meet other transfer and adult learner students, and hear about resources available to help you succeed at FHSU! Seating is limited; registration will be available online. All attendees will receive a free gift!
International Student Orientation A week-long orientation will be held for all new international students prior to the fall semester. A few of the topics addressed during orientation include: immigration & academic information, residential life & housing, student health, culture shock, campus safety, technology on campus, and getting involved. All new international students at FHSU are required to participate in this event!
