First Year Experience (FYE)
Resources

Ready to succeed in your first year at FHSU? Knowing your resources - and using them - is important! Here are some opportunities at FHSU that will be helpful in helping you navigate your way through your first year on campus.

Checklist - This handy checklist will help you keep track of different events and opportunities occurring throughout the year to get involved and connected on campus.

Student Organizations - Get involved in student organizations to make friends, gain leadership skills, and earn experience in your field of study!

Learning Communities - Living in the residence halls? Take advantage of the Learning Communities, where you can meet friends with similar academic interests, get to know faculty who can provide academic support to your floor, and take classes with your floor-mates in a structured learning group.

T.I.G.E.R.S. Series - To help you succeed academically and personally, the Kelly Centers offers college and life skills workshops (T.I.G.E.R.S. Series Workshops) each semester. These free workshops are designed to address the many different concerns you may experience as a college student - study skills, test anxiety, depression, stress, relationships issues, money management, and more!

Horizons - This multicultural student orientation will introduce new freshmen to the diverse FHSU community and provide you with an opportunity to meet and interact with new and returning students. You will also meet faculty and administrators who will discuss some of the academic, personal and social adjustment issues that you may experience. Starting your time at FHSU on the right foot is paramount, and the best way to do that is by attending Horizons.
