Current Graduate Students
Geosciences offers graduate study for the
Master of Science along two different tracks, geology and geography.
The MS in Geology prepares the student for a career in industry or in government, and provides preparation for Ph.D. work at another institution. The geology track is flexible to the student' s interest. Areas of emphasis can be environmental geology, stratigraphy, vertebrate paleontology, geophysics, petroleum geology, etc. The MS in Geography is intended primarily as a degree for preparation for an advanced professional position.
The program is extremely flexible, emphasizing two focus areas: Environmental Science and Geographic
Information Systems.
Please take a few minutes to take a look at the interest and research areas some of our graduates are actively persuing. Interested in a Geosciences Graduate Degree? Visit FHSU's Graduate School for admission requirements.

Vertebrate Paleontology
"I hail from Montana via Walla Walla, Washington, where I earned a BA in Geology. I arrived in Hays in the fall of 2004 where I have been planning to study vertebrate paleontology since the age of five, and though my first love is the dinosaur, I am also interested in the biology and paleontology of reptiles and birds. I am currently in the writing stages of a thesis on the functional morphology of the Cretaceous diving bird Hesperornis regalis."
