Electronic External Grant Submissions
FHSU Grants Office - Grad School

The number of organizations accepting electronic grant proposal submissions is steadily increasing. Please be aware that ONLY persons approved as authorized representatives of FHSU are permitted to submit grant proposals --- including electronic submissions. The Project Proposal Sign Off Sheet must be completed prior to paper or electronic grant submissions. If the proposal is being submitted to a Foundation, Donor Clearance will be necessary.

Electronic grant submissions sites typically require some form of registration that may take additional time. Electronic grants often have specific and sometimes unique formatting requirements. Some allow online proposal preparation, and you can “store” your information online. Other agencies require specific documents or forms to be downloaded to your computer to be completed and then submitted. Some (such as Grants.gov) require specific software. NSF FastLane requires registration prior to accessing the forms. At this point in time there is no “standard” process being used by agencies. Successful electronic grant submission to one agency is not predictive of success with a different agency. Additionally, agencies may change how grants are to be submitted, or may use a different contractor for different competitions.

We STRONGLY encourage you to contact the Grants Office EARLY if you are planning an electronic grant submission. We may need to register the university, the Principal Investigator or Project Director or make other arrangements. The Grants Office can assist with the process required by the funding agency.
