Required By FHSU:

Project Proposal Sign-off Sheet NEW!!! DIGITAL WORKFLOW NOW AVAILABLE! To read instructions for this process, click here. ALL grants must be routed through the Proposal Sign-Off Process prior to submission. Only authorized organization representatives may submit grants. Proposal Sign-Off may be routed electronically using the Graduate School Workflow on Lotus Notes.

PROPOSALS MUST BE APPROVED BY:
1. Chair
2. Dean
3. Grants Office
4. Provost or VP Admin and Finance

Hard copy Proposal Sign-Off forms may be downloaded here. Please review checklist here prior to completing forms. Print the completed form and obtain required signatures from the Department Chair, Dean, Grants Officer, and Provost or President with final budget and proposal attached. Obtain the necessary approval signatures for cost-sharing commitments well in advance of your grant submission date. It is important for administrative and academic units to understand the extent of their obligations to the proposed grant project.

FHSU Prospective Donor Clearance Request Form -- must be used for individual, corporate and foundation requests
NOTE: Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. Clearance will follow in five working days.

Steps to Writing a Grant Proposal

FHSU Research Awards:
Forms are available from Department Chairs. Please see samples for information about these grants (samples are not to be used for submission).

Application for Graduate School Research Award (Sample)

Application for Summer Research and Creative Activity Projects Fund (Sample)

These forms are available in early July and are usually due by early October.

Each applicant must have the following:

  • a research plan
  • supporting data for the activity
  • a proposed timeline
  • a description of the significance of the activity
  • a statement explaining how the results of the activity will be distributed
  • a copy of any survey instrument or questionnaire used
  • a statement regarding your plans for seeking external funding
  • a report of previous University support
  • current research support

Clarity of the proposal and quality of the research plan will also be considered.

Questions regarding these funds should be directed to your chair, your dean, or the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research.
