What greek life has to offer
Why You Should Go Greek
Fraternities and Sororities are one of the best ways for you to get involved in campus life, make new friends and enrich your college experience. Here are a few more reasons why you should consider membership in a Greek Letter organization:
  • Friendships will last a lifetime.
  • Academic standards produce excellence both in and out of the classroom.
  • Leadership opportunities provide you with valuable experiences for the world after college.
  • Philanthropic and community service activities help those in need and give back to the community.

Benefits
Many immediate benefits are received through fraternity membership, including numerous leadership possibilities, academic encouragement and several philanthropic activities. It is also a great resume building experience.

Scholarship
Academics are one of the most important aspects of a student's life here at FHSU. In fact, the overall fraternity/sorority GPAs are often higher than the all-women's or all-men's GPAs. Members are recognized for academic excellence by their chapter, the university and Panhellenic/Interfraternity Councils. Study programs are promoted to attain the highest scholastic achievement. Members are also eligible for scholarship money from the sorority at a local and national level.

Leadership
Involvement in Greek organizations provides many opportunities to hold leadership positions, gain valuable experiences and work with the campus and local communities. Each sorority is self-governed and depends upon its members to accept leadership positions in order to keep the organization well managed. Each fraternity/sorority provides ample opportunity for leadership positions. These opportunities are an excellent way to gain new skills and build self-confidence. Fraternities/sororities provide a learning experience for its members and are an asset to the university.

Community Service/Philanthropy
Each fraternity/sorority contributes to the community through various activities. Philanthropy is an important part of each chapter and projects are scheduled throughout the year to earn money for a cause. Also, Panhellenic and IFC work with other organizations to give back to the community and university through donations and volunteer service.

Brotherhood/Sisterhood
When involved in a fraternity/sorority, members are encircled by men and women who will become lifelong friends. Sisterhood/brotherhood is an important aspect of fraternity life because members learn about their sisters/brothers and themselves over the course of the collegiate years. After graduation members are encouraged to be active alumnae with their Greek organization, such as a chapter adviser or in the alumnae chapter.

Greek Life Is For You
Each individual has his/her own way of contributing to a fraternity/sorority, whether it is excellence in academics, athletics or campus activities. At FHSU we are positive that everyone has something to contribute and gain from Greek Life!
