Master of Science - On Line
Study at the graduate level in the Department of Health and Human Performance leads to a Master of Science Degree in Health and Human Performance (HHP). The on-line program is designed to provide graduate education in a distance education (virtual) format. The program provides opportunities for continued development of the conceptual, technical, analytical, and communication skills related to careers in health and human performance.
Admission criteria includes: 1) successful application to the Graduate School at Fort Hays State University; 2) completion of minimum of 18 undergraduate credit hours in health and human performance, exclusive of service courses; 3) a minimum grade point average of 3.0 for last 60 credit hours on the bachelor's degree; or 4) a 2.50-2.99 grade point average for last 60 credit hours on the bachelor's degree and a minimum combined score of 850 on the Verbal and Quantitative component of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or a minimum score of 40 on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT); 5) three letters of recommendation. Any student with a GPA below 3.0 must have an acceptable GRE or MAT score on file prior to admission to the program.
Program Content
The program consists of a 17 hour core plus an additional 15 hours accumulated from a series of electives and is designed to allow an individual to complete their degree over a three to four year period. As a final step in the program, all students are required to successfully complete a comprehensive examination prior to graduation. A student may join the program at any time during the year. Core course offerings are summer only and must be scheduled accordingly. Program electives are chosen from regularly schedule virtual courses offered by the department, through the virtual college.
The Core : Students will experience an average course load of 6 hours per summer. All core courses are virtual summer offerings and are available on a rotatiing schedule.
