Aquacize Instructors
Lead patrons in basic water aerobics and water fitness session(s).
All hired staff is expected to look and act professionally
and is responsible for purchasing and wearing staff apparel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure patron safety in and out of the water
- Assist lifeguard on duty, if necessary
- Know policy and procedure plan for emergencies
- Assist director in administration of the activities in
the FHSU IM-REC department
- Dress appropriately in proper uniform
- Arrive 10 minutes early to all assignments
- Attend weekly meeting
- Basic knowledge of physical fitness
- Teach in an enthusiastic manner
- Take roll prior to class
- Collect fees before class
- Instruct participants on aerobic exercises and toning
exercises in the water
- Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
Qualifications/Experience
- Current Lifeguard Training/First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR-Professional Rescuer Certificate
- Certified aquacize instructor preferred
- Current FHSU student
- Work-study recipients preferred
Skills
- Good people skills
- Knowledge of aquacize skills
- Able to motivate and lead participants
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Current Lifeguard Training/First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR-Professional Rescuer Certificate
- Certified aquacize instructor preferred
Physical Demands
- Meet physical demands of teaching any aquacize session(s).
Able to teach at least one hour straight in heat and humidity.
Lifting, walking, and running may be involved.
Work Environment/Environmental Conditions
- Aquacize classes are held in the pool (CH 127). The pool
is heated.
Hours & Pay
Typically these positions range in hours from
10-20 hours per week. Because these positions are through
FHSU Work Study, the pay is minimum wage.
