WEEK THREE---War Begins in Asia and Europe
Overview
The purpose of this week's lecture and reading assignments is to emphasize
the many significant aspects of the Japanese aggression in Asia during
the 1930s AND the various responses to that aggression. Included
in this discussion will be an analysis of several nations' relations with
both Japan and China. As many of you have discover, I depend on your
careful reading of Stokesbury to provide with what I call the "conventional"
story. In this instance, the assigned readings focus primarily on
developments in Europe which allows me to focus more specifically on developments
in Asia.
