WEEK FIVE---From June to December, 1941: The USSR and USA
Overview
The purpose of this week's lecture and reading assignments is to understand
better the rationales behind Hitler's invasion of the Soviet Union and
Imperial Japan's attack on the United States. A key component of
this exploration will be an analysis of critical misunderstandings and
mistakes committed by the Axis powers based in part on racial and ideological
conceptions of both the enemy and battlefield situation.
