Oktoberfest 2017

This is the Volga German Society's 45th year to host the event. The theme continues to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Catherine the Great's Manifesto, inviting Germans to move to Russia, and who would later become known as Volga Germans. The year 2017 is also the sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) of Ellis County, Hays City, Rome, Historic Fort Hays, and Boot Hill.

The festival takes place in Municipal Park, 100 Main St, in Hays. Oktoberfest is a fundraising opportunity for local non-profit organizations. All vendors should do their best to emphasize German history, food, and heritage. In 'keeping it local,' any food items sold must be homemade. Over 45 vendors host booths at the event.
