Education
The Information Enterprise Institute coordinates Information Assurance interdisciplinary education
offered at Fort Hays State University at the bachelor's
and master's degree levels. Coursework is offered by
three colleges of the university. The Department of Information Networking and Telecommunications offers a Master's of Liberal Studies
in Information Assurance with both technical and management tracks. It also offers an Information Assurance Emphasis with the
Computer Networking and Telecommunications Bachelor's of Science and Bachelor's of Arts degrees. The College of Business offers
an Information Assurance Emphasis within its Master's of Business Administration. Coursework in Information Assurance is
additionally offered in the Management Information Systems program, the Technology Studies Department, and Computer Science.
The Information Enterprise
Institute facilitates seamless Information Assurance and Information
Technology education and operates the Kansas Cisco Networking Academy
System. Students are provided multiple entry and exit points in
critical and high demand fields. The Information Enterprise Institute
serves as a Regional Cisco Networking Academy which provides curriculum,
instructor education, local academy support, and quality assurance.
Institutions at varying levels benefit from being part of the system:
- High Schools –The
Cisco IT Essentials and CCNA Discovery curricula are designed for the
high school or technical school level. These courses provide a
valuable fundamental base for students to build on in post-secondary
education in Information Assurance, Computer Networking, Web Development,
Management Information Systems, Computer Science, and other science,
technology, engineer, or mathematics (STEM) majors. The Cisco
Exploration curriculum is an advanced placement level academically challenging
curriculum that high schools with demand for advanced curricula may
decide to adopt.
- Technical Colleges
– The Cisco Discovery curriculum provides a valuable technical base
for students interested in direct entry into the work place. It
can also articulate into the Cisco Exploration curriculum and into a
Bachelors of Science or Bachelors of Arts at Fort Hays State University
in Computer Networking and Telecommunications at Fort Hays State University.
- Community Colleges
-- The Cisco Discovery curriculum provides a valuable technical base
for students interested in direct entry into the work place. The
Cisco Exploration curriculum is designed for post-secondary bachelors
degree oriented students. This curriculum articulates into a Bachelors
of Science or Bachelors of Arts at Fort Hays State University in Computer
Networking and Telecommunications at Fort Hays State University.
Community colleges may also offer Cisco Academy IT Essentials and Network
Security curriculum which can articulate to Fort Hays State University
and other select colleges and universities.
- Colleges and Universities
– The Cisco Exploration curriculum is designed for post-secondary
bachelors degree oriented students. Fort Hays State University
offers the Exploration curriculum to its students. It also offers
Cisco Certified Network Professional, Cisco Security, and many other
courses as stand alone options and within certificates and degrees.
