Broadcast Scholarship Program  

Are you a Kansas resident? Entering your junior year or higher in college? Don't miss this chance for an excellent scholarship opportunity.

The Purpose: 

Kansas Association of Broadcasters (KAB) and the KAB Foundation are helping to guarantee the future quality of broadcasting in Kansas.  A scholarship fund has been established to fund higher education for a promising student. 

The Scholarship:

KAB provides an annual broadcast scholarship to help cover the costs of tuition and books.  Awards will be paid in two installments to the school registrar prior to fall and spring enrollment.  Recipients will receive a total of $16,000 in grants.

Selection Criteria:

Financial need is considered, depth of thought, clarity of expression, and commitment to broadcasting is an important consideration.  One letter of recommendation from a non-family member is required. 

To Qualify:

Applicants must meet these criteria:  

  • Kansas Resident
  • Attending a Kansas post-secondary institution
  • Applicants must be entering their junior year or above
  • Enrolled in a broadcast or related curriculum
  • Enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester the scholarship is in effect
  • Grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
  • Complete the application making sure it is signed by college department head certifying the applicant meets the eligibility criteria

Applications must be postmarked by May 1.  Judges will screen the applications to determine who will receive a personal interview.  The Scholarship Committee will invite up to ten applicants for a personal interview in Topeka in late May.  Winners will be notified in early June.
