Telecommunications Analyst

 The Department of Innovation and Technology delivers innovative and reliable technology solutions and services to advance the objectives of County staff, elected officials, and the community in a cost effective and efficient manner. Johnson County Government is looking for a full-time Telecommunications Analyst proficient in Cisco VOIP equipment with experience managing Cisco UCM, Unity, Presence and UCCX/UCCE. Candidate will assist in the design, installation, management and maintenance of Johnson County’s telecommunications network.  The Telecommunications Analyst position is responsible for the following:

  • Establishes communications systems by programming and provisioning telecommunications network equipment, circuits and equipment.
  • Assist in the specifications, design, development, testing, installation and documentation of voice/video communications hardware/software systems and data infrastructure network hardware/software. 
  • Establishes voice networks by programming features; establishing interfaces and integrations; analyzing voice traffic; provisioning voice circuits; following industry standards; and activating remote access tools.
  • Verifies service by testing and re-programming circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying and correcting problems; conferring with engineers and vendors.
  • Provides the database design, implementation, and documentation for Telephony, Messaging, and other future solutions.
  • Establishes system specifications by conferring with users; analyzes workflow, access, information, and security requirements; develops tactical solutions for routine system support.
  • Confers with vendors; develops, tests, evaluates, and installs enhancements and new software.
  • Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshoots system hardware, software, networks and systems management; designs and runs system load/stress testing; escalates application problems to vendor.
  • Develops system access; monitors, controls, and evaluates system performance; establishes and tests disaster recovery policies and procedures; completes back-ups; maintains documentation.
  • Designs and conducts training programs for users; provides references and support.
Job Requirements

Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field.  At least two years in systems design, programming and systems software and support experience are required. KS/MO driver’s license with good driving record.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field is preferred.
