Application Developer Position - Farmers Alliance

The Application Developer's role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new and existing software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, analyzing, and troubleshooting software programs and applications. The Application Developer will also research, design, document, modify, and maintain software specifications throughout the system life cycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with customers, technicians, and management to develop business requirements.
  • Assist in project planning and project management.
  • Design, run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
  • Debug and troubleshoot new and existing application software.
  • Address business problems through professional and technical advertisement.
  • Develop and maintain user and system documentation. Identify and document technical specifications.
  • Advise management of best practices in the area of development tools, practices, and current trends.

Work Conditions:

  • Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines and provide system support.
  • Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
  • Some travel may be required.

Knowledge and Skill Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of applications development, spanning multiple platforms.
  • Ability to develop in one or more of the following: COBOL, HTML, XML, Javascript, Java, J2EE, JCL, web services, C/C++ and application server scripting.
  • Database knowledge of SQL, relational database concepts, performance tuning and security is preferred.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Needs to be highly self-motivated and directed.
