ERP What is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System?

Enterprise resource planning integrates internal and external management of information in real-time across an entire organization, including inventory, production, accounting/finance, human resources, delivery, business intelligence, sales, engineering, production planning, and purchase data. This data is generally stored on a database and accessed through the ERP software. The ERP system automates this activity access with an integrated software application. Its purpose is to aid the stream of information between all business functions inside the boundaries of the internal organization and control the connections to external stakeholders. An ERP systems generally include a company’s customer relationship management (CRM) system and the supplier relationship management (SRM) system.
