Fort Hays State University provides the umbrella for the Kansas Cisco Networking Academy System. Comprised of a Sponsored Curriculum Cisco Academy Training Center (CATC), two CCNA Regional Academies, an Emerging Technology Regional Academy and a CCNP Local Academy, the needs of community colleges, technical colleges, and high schools throughout the Kansas region are served. Academy students may continue from local academy training into more advanced curriculum at Fort Hays State University.
Fort Hays State University and Johnson County Community College jointly are a Cisco Academy Training Center (CATC) for Sponsored Curriculum. This center serves Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iowa, New Mexico and Arkansas. Initially, Fort Hays State University provides the training for instructors in the Web Design curriculum and IT Essentials (CompTIA A+ and Server+) curriculum. Johnson County Community College provides training in the Unix, Java, and Voice and Data Cabling curriculum. Further curriculum areas will be supported as additional information technology companies funnel courses through the program.
Instructor Training is conducted several times a year. Depending the on the curriculum, courses require between nine and twenty-two days. If a school or college or cluster of educational organizations have enough demand and desire on-site training, Fort Hays State University will provide such training.
Instructor Trainees have the option of taking training courses for graduate credit. These courses can be applied toward the Masters of Liberal Studies in Information Networking and Telecommunications or the Masters of Instructional Technology.
