The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification indicates foundation knowledge in networking. By successfully completing this course work and passing the CCNA certification exam you will be able to design, configure and operate LAN and WAN services for small to moderate sized networks. Areas of focus for the four-semester CCNA curriculum includes (but not limited to) understanding and working with the following concepts: TCP/IP, Ethernet, RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, Frame Relay, VLANs, and Access Control Lists (ACLs.)

The four CCNA semesters are broken up into the following areas:

CCNA 1 – Networking Basics
CCNA 2 – Routers and Routing Basics
CCNA 3 – Switching Basics and Intermediate Routing
CCNA 4 – WAN Technologies

Fort Hays State University offers the CCNA curriculum on-line. Based on the asynchronous distance-learning model, students around the world follow a class schedule completing course objectives at a time convenient for them.

FHSU offers two distinct paths for CCNA on-line instruction.

1) Internetworking Certification - “Fast Track”

INT 291: Internetworking I - CCNA Semester 1
INT 292: Internetworking II - CCNA Semester 2
INT 293: Internetworking III - CCNA Semesters 3 & 4

With this two-semester path, students can complete the CCNA coursework in as little time as 9 months. Students interested in this option should have some familiarity with networking concepts, but need not be experts. This option is ideal for someone interested in upgrading his or her IT skills or intends to sit for the CCNA certification exam within a year’s time.

2) Internetworking for Military

Internetworking for the Military I (INT 322) – CCNA Semester 1
Internetworking for the Military II (INT 322) – CCNA Semester 2
Internetworking for the Military III (INT 322) – CCNA Semesters 3 & 4

The sections of Internetworking for the Military collectively cover the CCNA coursework. Originally developed for busy military students around the globe, the military section, providing students with additional assignments and lab exercises to reinforce learned concepts.

Note: CCNA Lab & Help Desk Hours are established each semester. See your current Course Information on Blackboard for specific times.
