Background:
Melissa Hunsicker-Walburn serves the citizens of Kansas as Director for the Learning Quest® 529 Education Savings Program. Melissa is charged with overseeing the programs daily operations, which encompasses thousands of accounts with nearly a billion dollars in assets.
Prior to joining the Treasurer's office, Melissa worked for the Kansas Corporation Commission, the state's public utility regulatory agency, where she served as a Telecommunications Regulatory Analyst. She has also worked in the non-profit sector in the area of education law.
A lifelong Kansan, Melissa graduated from Fort Hays State University (FHSU) with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. After graduating from FHSU, Melissa went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from the Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kan. and is licensed to practice law in the state of Kansas and the United States District Court for the District of Kansas.
