INT Reception
Posted By Robert Paige
- September 19, 2006 The Department of Information Networking and Telecommunications (INT) at Fort Hays State University will be holding a reception in the Heather Hall Television Studio on Saturday, September 30 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. in honor of Mike Leikam, former INT Department Chair and Professor. The purpose of the reception is to allow alumni, friends, current faculty, and students to spend time with Mike and to show appreciation on behalf of Fort Hays State University for his service and leadership.
Leikam was a faculty member in the Department of Communication (correct department name at the time) and initially taught Radio, Television, and Film. He was the first Chair of the Department of Information Networking and Telecommunications and was active in creation of the Telecommunications track, the department's earliest courses on Web Development, and the start-up of the Kansas Cisco Networking Academy System. He developed the first Interactive Systems Design course on the FHSU campus. Mike left Fort Hays State University in May 1999 to pursue a dream of starting his own business and has been in the private sector the last seven years as the president of a small company in Denver. He left campus after 19 years of service to the university. Mike continues to periodically teach part-time through the Virtual College.
The public is invited to this Homecoming event. Please RSVP your attendance to Mandi Stephenson, INT Department Administrative Assistant: mstephen@fhsu.edu or 785.628.5373 by September 26.
