The following note was written to INT Department Chair, Dr. Mark Bannister, from Former Chief Information Officer at Dell Computers and PepsiCo.
Dear Mark:
Make it a point to do most of your recruiting at small and/or lesser known colleges and universities such as Fort Hays State University, Park University, St. Edwards University, and Canisius College. The most successful candidates we ever hired out of our college recruiting program at PepsiCo came from small, and/or rural colleges like Fort Hays State.
Sincerely,
Jerry Gregoire

Larned

; whom was searching for Web Design services for it's business.
Dear Mark:
I wanted to thank you for your help in getting our request for proposals for Web Design, out to FHSU INT students and alumni. We received 5 proposals and accepted a template design proposal from Total Digital Studios, which is run by Jason Penka, an FHSU INT Department Alumni. During the process of choosing a proposal I spoke with many of the prospects whom are alumni of the INT Department at FHSU, and was impressed with their technical and business abilities. We are pleased with how this worked out and I just wanted to thank you again for your help.
Sincerely,

Internships
An internship is a practical learning experience outside the educational institution in an organization that deals with the line of work you hope to enter. It's purpose is to fill the gap between the academic and professional worlds. Internships are made possible through the cooperation of commercial radio and television stations, information service providers, and public and private organizations that depend on information as part of their daily operations. It is considered the final stage of course work in Information Networking and Telecommunications.
The best course of action is for a student to apply for an internship possibly in their Freshman or Sophmore years, but certainly by their Junior year. An internship between their Junior and Senior year will give them practical experience and an idea of what's expected in the 'real world'. Also, Internships often build on one another, and many students who have done an internship after their Junior year have found it easier to secure a job upon graduation.
FHSU Student Casey McAvoy interns at Capital News 9, Albany,NY

"Although my internship was short lived I feel that it was a great opportunity. The staff at Capital News 9 were eager to give me advice and take suggestions from me. They complimented highly on the INT program at Fort Hays State University and how right after college, its students will be prepared for the real world. I am truely thankful for all the help, advice, and mentoring I have received from students and faculty in my extended five year program with the department."
