The Office of International Student Services
provides a great service called the Speakers Bureau Program
through the International Student Union (ISU). International
students from FHSU are available to the Hays community to
do short presentations about their country, geography, history,
traditions, etc. The international students also enjoy hosting
art projects such as origami, cultural writing and speaking,
or reading a book at story time.
The classroom visits or presentations can be tailored to the
teachers or groups needs and would be willing to work with
you on what you would like to present. Some students have
brought items from their home country and would be able to
bring those items to show.
We provide these services to area schools and community groups
in a 30 mile radius of Hays. The opportunity to bring culture
to area schools and community groups is an excellent way of
inegrating an international aspect into the Hays and area
communities, as well as our schools and youth. We feel this
program is a great way to help internationalize our communities
and is a very important part of our world today.
