CJET Programs and Services

While the need for well-trained leaders may be common for many criminal justice agencies, that doesn't mean that any "cookie-cutter solution" will best meet your particular situation. Fort Hays State University's Center for Criminal Justice Education & Training (CJET) offers seven (7) platforms to meet your educational, training and research needs in order to radically improve your organization and its members!

Criminal Justice Distance Learning Degrees at FHSU

Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies
Bachelor of General Studies with concentration in Justice Studies
Master of Liberal Studies (MLS) with concentration in Justice Studies

With contemporary market demands requiring four-year and master's degrees, if your goal is to complete that degree you never finished or start from the very beginning, FHSU-Justice Studies can assist you. We have over 90 distance learners completing their degree with us every semester, from senior-level federal agents to high school graduates seeking their first criminal justice job.

Certification and Certificate Programs

Does your profession or professional association have a continuing education requirement? Or perhaps professionals within your field need certification to enhance their expertise? CJET can assist in designing and operating a certification/certificate program of value to your profession.

Certificate programs are generally held over a specific period of time and taught by a team of faculty. A certificate of completion is awarded to participants at the conclusion of the program.

Certificates currently available include:

Victim Advocacy Certificate (contact Dr. Andria Cooper at acooper@fhsu.edu for details)

In-service Training

FHSU-Justice Studies currently offers summer workshops that reflect the best of criminal justice knowledge in response to today's criminal justice challenges. Our trainers and faculty are research-based experts in their disciplines, adding value to your organization and profession by sharing their knowledge in a series of one or two-day educational programs designed to provide you up-to-date strategies, trends, theories and applications.

In-service training workshops and seminars can also be scheduled and arranged throughout the year on the Fort Hays State University campus by contacting CJET as a host or training agency for your professional needs.

Academic credit is attached to each and every program. For inquiries into obtaining academic credit for training, contact Dr. Brian A. Kinnaird at 785-628-5945.

Consulting and Grant Writing Services

The Docking Institute of Public Affairs works with its policy fellows affiliated with CJET to offer criminal justice system research using the latest in research methodology and technology. The Docking Institute also consults its policy fellows associated with CJET to provide grants facilitation services focused on criminal justice system progams and projects.

Conference Presentation

Need a home for your next professional conference or presentation? CJET facilitates conferences and other presentations through collaborations with corporate partners and sponsors. Venues vary, however, the Fort Hays State University campus provides the ultimate presentation ground to meet your technological and hospitality needs.

Collaborative Partnerships

CJET and the Justice Studies Program are amenable to developing partnership opportunities to any criminal justice agency in the State of Kansas or beyond. From grant writing to consulting to delivering distance education, CJET is willing and able to facilitate your needs and thus achieving our scope and mission!
