FHSU’s Defensive Tactics Club is a departmental student organization open to all Justice Studies majors and minors. The club meets every Tuesday in Cunningham Hall (CH 122) from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Students elect an executive board and participate in student and community functions as a service unit to receive funds for allocations and equipment. Students of Defensive Tactics Club participate in control and self-defense systems used to enhance the student’s physical, emotional, and psychological confrontation management capacity as well as their credibility once employed in the criminal justice system. As a result, students are trained in Tony Blauer’s (www.tonyblauer.com) S.P.E.A.R. System ™ and Personal Defense Readiness™ program in addition to learning basic, unarmed control options for escorting non-belligerent individuals. Additionally, students learn proper protocols, and have the opportuniy to volunteer for police tactics that are used.
Membership dues are $15 per semester. If interested (and you are a current or prospective student), please contact Dr. Brian Kinnaird at 785.628.5945 or bkinnair@fhsu.edu to inquire about participating.
