Registering for Classes

Pre-enrollment (also called registration) is conducted in late October/early November for the spring semesters and in late April/early May for both summer and fall semesters at FHSU. FHSU does not have continuous enrollment and classes. Enrollment is the process whereby fees have been paid to the Registrar's Office for the classes registered.

On-Campus
On-campus students are required to find out when they may be authorized to register in classes. Such authorization is considered by academic rank, i.e., FR, SO, JR, SR, GR and is conducted with graduates and seniors first, followed by JR, SO and FR. Students can consult the online calendar to find out when they will be authorized to pre-enroll or they can look in the schedule book. Students are required to make appointments with their respective advisors.

Virtual College
Virtual College students are required to find out when they may be authorized to register in classes.

Due to the volume of distance learners in the FHSU Justice Studies Program, it cannot be guaranteed that classes will be open. Each class typically has one section available that holds up to 25 students. For example, in registering for summer and fall classes, VC courses are usually full by June. It is imperative that distance learners get registered for classes as soon as possible and not wait until a few weeks before classes start. Courses will not be reopened to add students.

Virtual College students have the option to register themselves online by visiting the Virtual College Web link located at the top of this page. This option allows easy access when it is difficult to get in contact with an academic advisor. In fact, it is recommended that distance learner register themselves. Faculty are on 9-month contracts are not available during the summer months. It is imperative, then, that you contact your academic advisor to map out a program of study ahead of time so that you do not end up enrolling yourself in courses that you do not need, are not authorized to take or are full. Please visit the link on this Web site concerning academic advising.
