>There are two groups of people in this world: those who hate Jim Carrey and >those who think he is funny.

Wrong. There are three categories: those who hate him, those who think he's funny, and those who like him in drama. People can think he's not funny but love him when he tackles dramatic roles. I'm in that category for the most part.

Nice to read you enjoyed it =]
For your complaints regarding Marley's ghost and the ghost of past, I'll have to ask you whether you've read the book *closely*.
I'm not a big fan of Carrey but neither do I "hate" him. I don't get that sort of "hatred", btw. How can someone hate a person he's never personally known? He has his own style, he pulls it off well. Hating a person for originality of style is unfair.
I think he's outdone himself in this movie, though. He was amazing.
Kudos to others as well, I enjoyed Gary Oldman as Marley's ghost.

I love Beatles Rock Band but not so much the guitar/bass guitar part. The singing and the drumming is where it's at.

Also, disregard my typo. I thought really hard about how to past tense "still." But I've had a couple of beers, and this typing thing is not working out too great for me.

My child came home from school saying they learned to cough and sneeze into their elbows with Germy Wormie, and I was totally taken aback. I always used my hands. But I went to the website, and now I get it, hands touch, elbows don't!! Kids can touch up to 300 surfaces in 1/2 an hour, and they hate to wash their hands. This is a simple thing that can make a huge difference. And if you're around kids, there is also an entertaining DVD that teaches kids how to do this and reinforces other important hygiene habits

Hayley, you absolutely nailed it. Your review shows you can see beneath the surface to what the producers and directors are really trying to promote. With little tidbits like "cougar hunting" and "mother's Id like to..." thrown in there for good measure, can anyone really say that this is about being good parents, or helping your kids, or keeping marriage alive?

I think of the ending scene when the two parents, reunited, walk out on their son's basketball game and are discussing how nice his six-pack abs used to be. Then he returns to his friend's house who is now in bed with the principal.

The true theme of this movie is that we should have no boundaries when it comes to lust and passion. Every person, regardless of age, sex, or even family relationship is now a potential partner: Parents, children, relatives, anyone at all. Although the movie doesn't come out and say this directly, you would have to be very naive (and I wish I was) not to see it.

Look for it in almost every movie you see. It's always there. For example the scene in Spiderman where it conveniently starts raining just before they kiss and her shirt gets wet. I wonder who planned that scene? It's the scene in Disney's Enchanted where he sees her in the shower.

Luckily once in every decade or so a movie gets out that does something other than promote the degradation of our society.

It's funny, a prior comment said that we should worry about what happens in the home and not blame society's problems on movies. The author was not blaming the problems in society on the movie, but she definitely discouraged us from bringing this into our home, exactly what you suggested. I recommend this movie to anyone blind enough not to see how it attempts to warp our concept of what is appropriate sexual behavior, and what, if any, are the boundaries between right and wrong.

I was wondering, also under the impression that this was based from a true story. Trying to get facts about it. If anyone knows if it's true or not I would like to know. If it is will someone inform me on how to view the actual events.

Thank you.

I was Vernon's senior English teacher, and he is such a special person. I've never met such a charismatic and genuine young man. He is truly missed, but it makes me smile to see he's doing so well. We love you, Vernon!
