Bryan J. Nichols was a local hero of Hays, Kansas who served in the Army as a CH47 Chinook helicopter pilot. Bryan grew up in Hays, Kansas and graduated from Thomas More Prep-Marian High School. As a member of the Army’s 7-158th Aviation Regiment, Bryan was flying a mission on August 6, 2011, when his Chinook was shot down in eastern Afghanistan. On board with Nichols were 22 Navy SEALS, three Air Force Special Operations personnel and four other crew members.
The CW2 Bryan J. Nichols Benefit Golf Tournament is hosted by a leadership 310 class, “Team Drive for Bryan.” The goal of hosting this golf tournament is to help raise funds needed to erect the final two signs along Interstate 70, which would commemorate CW2 Bryan Nichols and all our fallen veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
The signs that we are helping fund can be seen at the top of this page. These signs are very important to us and the rest of the community because they show are appreciation to Bryan and the rest of our troops who fight for our freedom. Team Drive for Bryan is hoping to raise $1500 for this project, but this is only a small portion of what is needed. To raise the final two signs the total cost is roughly $4500.
ALL PROCEEDS GO DIRECTLY TO CW2 BRYAN J. NICHOLS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY FUND!!!!
