Dr. Brungardt was recently awarded the Omer D. Voss Distinguished Professorship, becoming only the second university faculty member to have a position created under the Regent's Faculty of Distinction Program. In August of 2005, Dr. Brungardt stepped down as chair of the Department of Leadership Studies when his position took effect and continues as the Executive Director of the Center for Civic Leadership. Over the last twelve years, he has presented and facilitated over 100 workshops throughout America. In addition, Dr. Brungardt has authored and co-authored three books and a dozen articles in the field of leadership studies.

Most importantly, he is a husband, father, and an avid sailor.
