Heather Kriley is an international instructor of Leadership Studies for Fort Hays State University’s partnership program in China. For her assignment, Heather lives abroad and teaches Fort Hays State University curriculum to students at Sias International University, Xinzheng, Henan and Shenyang Normal University, Shenyang, Liaoning. In addition to teaching leadership introduction courses, Heather is assigned to teach service learning, a method of teaching and learning that integrates community service activities into academic curricula and expands the learning of students from the classroom to the community. Throughout the past year, Heather has had the opportunity to work with Chinese students on projects that focused on the supporting those in need, assisting non-profit organizations with awareness and aid, protecting the environment, rescuing animals in danger and poor living conditions, preserving the arts, and enhancing cross-culture understanding.
Prior to teaching for the Leadership Studies department, Heather was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for FHSU’s Business department. For her Graduate Teaching Assistant assignment Heather was stationed at Sias International University in Xinzheng, China for 1.5 years where she assisted professors who taught courses from FHSU’s business curriculum. After completing her Master’s degree in 2012, Heather was hired by the Leadership Studies department.
Heather received her B.A. in Organizational Leadership from FHSU in 2009, in addition to her M.B.A. in Business Administration in 2012. Heather is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Business Administration with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Heather’s research interests include leadership development, corporate social responsibly, and collaboration.
Heather has lived in China for three years. Her interests include music, food, traveling, and spending time with family.
