Acquisitions

involves the pre-order searching of materials requested for purchase, the ordering of materials, the receiving of materials, and the processing of invoices involving such purchases. This means working with a number of vendors, operating within state contract guidelines, monitoring all acquisitions accounts for accuracy, handling problems when the wrong item is received, and finding books which are out-of-print.

Cataloging

In support of the academic program at Fort Hays State University, the Cataloging Department builds and maintains a bibliographic database to enable users of the library to locate materials in all formats in the library's collections. The department catalogs, classifies, and processes library material in all formats acquired by Forsyth Library and its Archives and Special Collections Department .
