Directory of Open Access Journals- This service covers free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals. There are currently 9709 journals in the directory; 5621 are searchable at the article level.

Access World News Research Collection - NEW RESOURCE for 2014-15! This is a full-text news resource offering coverage of over 8,200 local, regional, national and international sources from over 200 countries. To narrow your search choose one of the Access World News Research Collection subject collections such as:

  • Access Business News - backfiles for over 400 publications. Use this for researching annual and quarterly financial results, comparing forecasts and strategy versus execution, trends and emerging market opportunities, and more.
  • Acceda Noticias - convenient access to complete electronic editions of more than 100 Spanish-language newspapers published in major U.S. cities. The collection also includes tens-of-thousands of current and archived full-text articles from across Argentia, Brazil,         China, Columbia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Spain.
  • Access Newswires - full-text of current and archived articles from key domestic newswires including AP, Scripps Howard, McClatchy-Tribune, Copley, PR Newswire and Financial Wire.
  • Access Military, Government & Defense - current and archived news and information from Air Force Times, Army Times, Marine Corps Times, Navy Times, Armed Forces Journal and Defense News, as well as others. Congressional Quarterly Transcriptions and         Federal Times are also incorporated covering key issues across all U.S. government departments and agencies.

Ambrose Digital Video - NEW RESOURCE for 2014-15! This service offers a wide subject range of streaming video in the humanities and sciences. The collection includes nearly 600 titles, including the BBC's Complete Shakespeare Collection. All videos and clips are closed captioned, and many also include downloadable curricular resources.

Education Source - NEW RESOURCE for 2014-15! The collection provides indexing and abstracts for more than 2,850 academic periodicals and includes full text for more than 1,800 journals, 550 books and monographs, education-related conference papers, citations for over 4 million articles including book reviews and over 100,000 controlled and cross-referenced names of educational tests.

Gale Virtual Reference Library - NEW RESOURCE for 2014-15! Over 1200 cross-searchable reference books to assist you with your research.

Literature Resource Center - NEW RESOURCE for 2014-15! Up-to-date biographical information, overviews, full-text literary criticism and reviews of nearly 130,000 writers in all disciplines, from all time periods from around the world.

Opposing Vewpoints in Context - NEW RESOURCE for 2014-15! Contextual information and opinions on hundreds of social issues. The resource includes continuously updated viewpoints, topic overviews, full-text magazines, academic journals, news, primary source documents, statistics, images, videos, audio and links to vetted websites.


 Resource Trials

Forsyth Library participates in  trials of electronic resources for review by faculty, students and staff of Fort Hays State University. Access is limited to authorized FHSU users unless otherwise noted. Use your TigerTracks username and password to try out these resources while available. If there is a resource you would like to have Forsyth Library examine in a trial please contact Jennifer Sauer.

ACLS Humanities E-Books

Chicago Manual of Style Online - The online version of the 16th edition of the manual provides recommendations on editorial style and publishing practices in the digital age. Access also includes the Chicago Style Q&A, the 15th edition of the manual, and tools such as sample correspondence, proofreaders' marks and a quick guide to citation.

Credo Reference  

E-book Collection - (formerly known as NetLibrary)  Patron registration required. Titles are viewable online, or download selected titles to your computer or e-book reader.

Ebook Library (EBL) - Offering FHSU patrons access to 50,000 e-book titles. Read the books online and take notes, create citations, copy and print portions of the books, and much more. Prefer to read a book offline? You can download entire books to your chosen device. You can also find links for EBL books in the Forsyth Library Catalog. Ebrary - We are building our E-book collection at Forsyth Library. Ebrary is a rapidly growing selection of electronic books from over 500 publishers. Training materials and users guides are available at http://www.ebrary.com/corp/training.jsp .

HathiTrust - The HathiTrust Digital Library is an immense collection of resources in digital form from over 60 institutions worldwide. Their mission is to curate and preserve the cultural record, making it accessible for future generations. The library contains both public domain and copyright protected works. At this time FHSU users are able to freely access the public domain works in HathiTrust.
