Zotero is a plug-in for FIREFOX. You must have Firefox installed before installing Zotero. It only takes a few minutes. To install Firefox, visit the Mozilla site.

1. Go to http://www.zotero.org/

2. Click the big red Download button at the top-right.

You’ll get a warning message that reads, “Firefox prevented this site (www.zotero.org) from asking you to install software on your computer.”

3. Click the Allow button to allow Zotero to be installed

A small window will pop up

4. Click the Install button when it becomes active.

A small pop-up window asks you to restart Firefox to complete your changes.

5. Click Restart Firefox button.

Congratulations! Zotero is now installed in your Firefox browser.

You may have to restart your computer for Zotero to take effect.

6. Switch on/off Zotero

a) You could see Zotero icon on the bottom right corner of your screen, by clicking the icon, you can switch on/off the Zotero interface.
b) You can add a Zotero to the top toolbar by following View -> Toolbars -> Customize and scroll down to find the Zotero icon and drag it to the toolbar. The icon can also be used to switch on/off the Zotero interface.
c) You can also open/close Zotero by following Tools -> Zotero or using short cut: Ctrl + Alt + Z.
