ROAR Professional Development Program
"A Tiger's Place is in the Jungle"TM
In the Department of Management and Marketing, we’ll
help you develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in the
jungle known as the business world. In the business world, if your knowledge
and skills are not fully developed, you will quickly become part of the food
chain. With the ROAR program you will know that you have developed the skills
to compete successfully in the business jungle. We know that Tigers should
always be at the top of the food chain.
R
– Relevant Coursework. You will take
a variety of classes with professional development and experiential learning
opportunities that will help you develop the skills you need to be successful. For
example, in MGT 101 you develop foundational teamwork and business skills to
prepare you for upper-division business courses, in MKT 301 you develop a self-marketing
plan, in BCOM 301 you prepare written reports and deliver oral presentations,
and in MGT 499 you participate in team-based analysis in a competitive business
environment.
O
– Online Portfolio. You will showcase
your class projects in an online portfolio. This will demonstrate your achievement
and mastery of departmental learning objectives with a major or concentration
focus, and could be shared with potential employers.
A– Applied Opportunities. In addition
to your classes, you will participate in other professional development
activities such as internships, workshops, practitioner roundtables, and
presentations by executives in residence. Several of these will be coordinated
with the Marketing & Management Association and other student groups.

– Real Career Skills. In the end, you
will be more competitive in the job market and ready to be successful in the
workplace jungle.
