Description:
As
the organization and communication of mass information becomes more and
more vital for professional purposes, businesses, institutions, and
organizations are in great need of content material experts who can
communicate effectively in English. With the guiding principle of
English as a Global Language, Global Professional English combines the
skills of effective communication - in written, oral, and digital forms -
with the expertise of management and marketing.
Additional Admissions Requirements:
Applicants
must write a personal statement discussing their experiences, goals,
and aspirations in the field of Global Professional English. A minimum
2.75 GPA on the last 60 hours of undergraduate credit hours must be
earned.
Learner Outcomes:
By the end of this program, students should gain
knowledge of and/or skills in the following two areas:
Achievement Level Descriptors:
- A
mastering level of knowledge of the Global English discipline.
- A
mastering ability to employ writing and rhetorical strategies to a
discipline-defined range of professional documents.
- A
mastering ability to assess the quality of and edit professional documents
within global, cultural contexts.
- A
mastering understanding and use of technology to develop, create, exchange,
edit and re-exchange professional documents.
- An
advancing to mastering level of understanding of a second language for
professional contexts and purposes.

- Identify a broad
series of strategies for effective professional and rhetorical communication in
Global English
- Research and
identify effective and appropriate cross-cultural social and professional practices and protocol
- Assess and
identify audience for effective professional and workplace communication in
Global English
- Engage in
professional conversational skills like the following: Negotiation, Meeting and
Group Interaction, Product Presentation, Meeting and Greeting, and Wireless
& Digitized Communication
- Edit one’s own and
others’ written and digitized communication within the workplace
- Use writing guides
and handbooks to edit documents according to the rules and formats of
standardized methods—such as MLA, APA, Chicago.
- Engage in the use
of digital and technical devices and tools for effective rhetorical
communication in Global English
