Student Organizations and Events
A great way to meet fellow students and faculty members is by becoming active in student organizations and events, such as these two offered by the Department of Modern Languages:
Kaffeestunde
This student-run weekly activity offers additional opportunities for you to meet students and community members interested in German language and culture. For more information, contact Dr. Avi Kempinski.
Spanish Club
The Spanish Club sponsors a variety of social and cultural gatherings throughout the year, which gives students, faculty and community members the chance to get together with others interested in Spanish or Spanish-language cultures. For more information about plans for 2010-2011, contact Dr. Espino-Bravo.
Internships Upperclassmen are encouraged to participate in modern language internships
in order to gain experience in teaching, business or other areas, while developing acquired language skills. You can intern at a local school by
assisting a teacher, or you can find an outside internship with the
aid of faculty. Interns who work in the class room help prepare
lessons, tutor students, and are group facilitators during class
projects.
Tutoring If
you like helping other students while gaining practical experience, you should consider tutoring.
Tutoring gives you the opportunity to deepen your language skills and
help your peers. If you are interested in finding or becoming a tutor, please contact the department.
