Concentration
in Psychology
Program Description
This concentration is not available through distance
education. It does not lead to certification, licensure, or endorsements.
This concentration is for on-campus students or members of the community
who wish to get background in Psychology at the graduate level.
Some graduate-level Psychology courses may require pre-requisites.
Like all other MLS concentrations, this concentration
has four major parts: the ten hour core (IDS 801, IDS 802, IDS 803,
and IDS 804), an 18-hour concentration (here is where the Psychology
courses would fit), a three-hour culminating experience, and comprehensive
examinations.
Area of Concentration (18 Hours)
18 hours of graduate-level courses in Psychology.
Students finishing their MLS degree with this concentration will
have the following notation on their transcripts: "Liberal
Studies (Behavioral Sciences)" unless those students prefer
to exclude the notation in parentheses.
Possible Courses
Psychology courses offered at the graduate level.
A student admitted to this concentration should work out a Program
of Study with her or his faculty advisor. A Program of Study includes
(1) the courses taken to fulfill the 31 hour requirement; and (2)
the names of the faculty members serving on the student's MLS faculty
advisory committee.
