Concentration
in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
1) Face to face classes are taught at various communities in the
southwest region of Kansas.
2) Courses for the ESOL concentration are also available online.
These courses are: READ 884 Literacy Development; ESOL 882 ESOL
Linguistics; ESOL 883 ESOL Assessment and Appraisal; ESOL 884 ESOL
Methods and Materials; AEP 880 Cultural Diversity; and ESOL 885
Practicum in ESOL.
3) The course for the culminating experience is AEP 873 Problems
in Education II (for three hours of credit).
If you are interested in an Kansas endorsement to teach ESL, you
should make sure you meet all state requirements.
Students completing their MLS program in this concentration will
have the following notation listed on their transcripts: "Liberal
Studies (ESOL)"
We are happy to announce that FHSU recently entered
into an agreement with the North Carolina Community College System.
While the agreement pertains to the BGS degree, it is hoped that
interested persons in North Carolina will wish to pursue the MLS
concentration in ESOL. The MLS concentration in ESOL is open to
anyone.
