Music and Theatre at Fort Hays State University

Forward thinking. World ready.

Can you hear the music WEBFor us, it’s not just a motto — it’s a way of life.

Whether you want to study music education, performance, composition, music technology, or just play in an ensemble and earn a different degree, we welcome your contributions and individual talents as part of the music degree program.

If you have a passion for the world of theatre - acting, writing, directing, staging and more - find your home among other aspiring artists. Beginning July 2010, the theatre program has joined forces with the Department of Music, moving from the Department of Communication Studies.

  • take a broad, interdisciplinary course of study to prepare you for the many dimensions of the world of theatre
  • learn in a friendly, supportive environment where classmates are more like family
  • begin to develop your performance skills - whether in music or theater - available to you as soon as you arrive on campus.

At FHSU, you will find dynamic faculty who are deeply committed to your education and training as an aspiring musician.
