He also instructs the low brass studio and oversees the Symphonic Winds student conductor program.
Dr. Weaver is an active arranger of athletic band and brass choir music and is published in the second volume of Teaching Music Through Performance in Beginning Band. He has presented a workshop on singing in the instrumental classroom at the Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop. He recently was featured as soloist for the world premiere of Nathan Froebe's Lucid Dreams for Trombone and Concert Band.
Dr. Weaver is active throughout Kansas and in Nebraska as a guest conductor and adjudicator. He has traveled with athletic bands to some of the greatest collegiate football and basketball venues in the SEC, Big 12, Big Ten, Big East, and the former PAC-10. International concert performances as a conductor and trombone soloist include Australia (Sydney Opera House), New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, England, Ireland, and Canada.
Prior to his appointment at FHSU, Dr. Weaver served as an Assistant Band Director at the University of Notre Dame and as a music pastor. Originally from Idaho, Dr. Weaver holds a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Utah State University, a Masters of Music in trombone performance from the University of Notre Dame, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in wind conducting from the University of Kentucky.
