Voice Scholarship Auditions

FHSU Music Scholarships are competitive and awarded by audition to talented students who are interested in private music study and participating in a large music ensemble. Merit scholarships are awarded based on the quality of the audition.

To audition, submit an audition registration form and a FHSU scholarship application. For the best scholarship chances, apply and register to audition early!

Voice Requirements

Performance - Sing 2 contrasting classical songs from memory which display your talents. An accompanist will be provided so please provide an extra copy.

Sight Singing - You will be asked to sight read a song at the audition. You will be given the first pitch. You may sing the melody on "lah," "loo," or any sight singing system you choose.

Pitch Retention - Repeat four and five note melodic patterns which will be played for you on the piano. Sing on "lah."

If the distance from Fort Hays State University is too far (over 400 miles), students may submit a high-quality video recording (DVD or VHS) with the prior consent of the voice faculty.
