Curriculum

The Department of Music offers three undergraduate major programs and two minors. Click here to learn more about requirements for each degree program published in the university catalog. Departmental degree flowsheets may be downloaded by clicking on the title of each degree program.

Bachelor of Music in Music Education - 146-155 credit hours. Available emphases include: woodwind/brass/percussion, strings, piano (vocal, wind/brass/percussion, or strings), vocal, and elementary/general.


Bachelor of Music in Performance - 126-139 credit hours. Available emphases include: wind/brass/percussion/strings, piano, organ, and voice.

Bachelor of Music in Composition - 126-130 credit hours. For students interested in composing music as a major.

Bachelor of Arts in Music - 124-131 credit hours. A minimum of 34 credits in music are required. Each student must complete 10 hours of a modern language and 21 free electives.

Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology
- 124-127 credit hours. A minimum of 44 credits in music and music technology courses are required. Each student must complete 10 hours of a modern language and 15 free electives.

Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Internetworking and Telecommunications (emphasis in music production) - 124 credit hours. Students take 18 hours of music technology courses on top of an INT media studies degree program.

Minor in Music - 20 credit hours. May be combined with any other major on campus except the Bachelor of Music.

Minor in Music Technology - 21 credit hours. May be combined with any other major on campus.

Master of Liberal Studies (Music) - 31 credit hours. Students with an interest in music may customize up to 18 hours of study in graduate music courses.
