Dr. Terry Crull is an Assistant Professor of Music,
and serves as the Director of Choral Activities at Fort Hays State
University. His duties include conducting the Fort Hays Singers,
the FHSU Concert Choir, the FHSU Women's Chorale, the FHSU Collegian
Chorale, and the Hays Community Choir. He also is conductor/music
director of the Fall Musical and conducts the Spring Opera production.
He also supervises choral student teachers, and instructs courses
in choral conducting, choral music education, and music appreciation.
Since coming to Kansas, Dr. Crull has been invited to guest conduct
the NW-KMEA HS Honor Choir, the SW-KMEA HS Honor Choir, the SE-KMEA
MS Honor Choir, and numerous league vocal clinics.
Dr. Crull has degrees in choral music and music education from
the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado (D.A.),
the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota (M.M.),
and Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa (B.A.). His 30-year career
in teaching has included Ontario, CA. (5-8 choir, band, and music),
Orange City, IA. (9-12 choir and band), Dakota Wesleyan University
in Mitchell, South Dakota (Director of Choral Music and Music Ed.),
the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado (Graduate
Assistant and Men's Glee conductor), and Fort Hays State University.
The William Hall Chorale, the Sioux County Oratorio Chorus, the Dakota Chorale, the Mitchell Madrigal Feaste Singers,
the Greeley Chorale, the Rocky Mountain Chorale, Vocal Arts Ensemble, and the Hays Community Choir are all community
choirs where Dr. Crull has served as conductor, singer, or both. Tours with school and community groups have included
Canada, China (twice), Italy, Taiwan, and many regional and national tours within the United States. Dr. Crull has also
conducted numerous church choirs, and has been actor, director, musical director, or producer for over sixty-four opera
and musical theater productions. While in Colorado he sang LEAD in a competitive barbershop quartet.
Dr. Crull holds professional membership in ACDA, MENC, and the Barbershop Harmony Society. He has conducted choral
festivals in California, Iowa, Washington, Minnesota, S. Dakota, N. Dakota, Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas, and has
presented clinics for choral directors for ICDA, SD-ACDA, CO-ACDA, KCDA, KMEA, and numerous school and church music
workshops.
